From a spreadsheet to 8,000+ companies

It started with a frustrated HR manager, a messy spreadsheet, and a conviction that employee recognition deserved better.

2019 — The Beginning
Founded in a San Francisco co-working space
Co-founders Jamie Chen and Marcus Webb — a former HR director and a Slack platform engineer — met at a startup event and bonded over the same frustration: recognition tools were either too clunky, too expensive, or too disconnected from daily work. They started building the first version of Team Disquantified in Jamie's kitchen.

2020 — First 100 Customers
Launched publicly and hit 100 customers in 90 days
The Slack app launched in March 2020 — weeks into a global pandemic that sent every team remote overnight. The timing was accidental but perfect. Companies suddenly desperately needed ways to keep remote employees connected and recognized. Team Disquantified grew 400% in its first year.

Raised $12M Series A led by Benchmark Capital
With strong product-market fit proven, Team Disquantified raised a $12M Series A to expand the rewards catalog, launch Microsoft Teams integration, and grow the engineering team. The round was led by Benchmark Capital with participation from several prominent HR-tech angels.

Expanded to 60+ countries with localized reward catalogs
Launched full global rewards coverage — 200+ countries, 50+ currencies, 15+ languages. Signed enterprise deals with companies like Accenture, Shopify, and HubSpot. Team grew to 60 people across San Francisco, New York, London, and Bangalore.

Launched Surveys & eNPS — the full engagement platform
Added Pulse Surveys, eNPS, and the full engagement survey suite — completing the vision of a single platform for all employee engagement needs. Customers who used Surveys + Recognition saw 2.3x improvement in eNPS versus recognition alone.

Raised $34M Series B, hit 5,000 customers
A $34M Series B led by Accel Partners validated Team Disquantified as the category leader in Slack-native employee recognition. Launched AI-powered sentiment analysis, the Challenges feature, and the ROI Calculator. Named to G2's Top 50 HR Products.
